Special Effects Page - Me
I got into the effects business because I get a chubby when it comes to stuff like transforming people into zombies, or seeing a piece of clay tranform myself into a mutant (well, more of a mutant). I never really planned to work on special effects full time. After I worked on a few films, however, I realized
that the effects business is not a place to get a job if you want to have a life or money. Both of those are none existant. If you want to have tons of people always hanging around you telling you how cool you are, then this is the job for you. But if you want to spend time with your family, or be able to buy lavish stuff like food, clothes, and gas, then go to excite and look up Web programming as a career. I realized pretty quick that I had to change careers so I mustered up my Aerospace/Math/Programming background and got into the internet business full time. Now that I've worked for the biggest companies and have a strong work base, I am going to get back into effects, but only on the side so I can maintain some type of income. I highly suggest that if you plan to get into the special effects business that you plan to work full time at a real job while you do it (unless, of course, you are loaded, in which case you can probably just bribe Stan Winston into letting you work for him).
